Bhangra is a dance form that originates from Northern India, Punjab. Originating from the farming fields of Punjab, it was a dance that was traditionally done by farmers to the Dhol drum, to make the harvest more enjoyable and to celebrate. Bhangra has now become a global phenomenon, is a dance of joy & celebration performed all over the world.

Jas Aulakh Bhangra is a London Based Bhangra dance company; founded by Jas Aulakh - a globally recognised and multi-award winning Bhangra Instructor, Choreographer and Dancer with over 15 years of industry experience.

Jas' life-long passion for Bhangra music & dance led to the formation of Jas Aulakh Bhangra; determined to share her wealth of knowledge & spread the joy of Bhangra to as many people as possible around the world!

 

Services include weekly Bhangra Classes in Hounslow, Harrow & Mayfair (Central London), Wedding Choreography for wedding first dances, groups and bride/grooms, Corporate packages which include Bhangra Workshops, Live entertainment & Fitness classes, Private lessons (online classes available too), Hen/Sangeet Party packages and a world-class Professional Live entertainment Bhangra troupe.

The main aim of Jas Aulakh Bhangra is to promote accessibility to high quality and authentic Bhangra education in an encouraging, safe and inclusive space. Aiming to empower females in particular through Bhangra dancing, equipping them with a confidence that they can carry with them in their everyday lives.

Meet the Founder

Jas Aulakh is a globally recognised and multi-award winning Bhangra Instructor, Choreographer and Dancer. Jas has trained in the art of Bhangra for over 15 years, developing her signature high-energy Bhangra style, which takes traditional Bhangra moves and gives them a modern day twist. Her wealth of Bhangra experience ranges from judging UK Bhangra competitions to bringing Bhangra to festivals, television, theatre companies, football stadiums

and so much more.

 

With 15 years of experience, Jas truly has made a mark within the UK Bhangra dance industry and is recognised as one of the

UK's leading female Bhangra instructors, bringing women to the forefront of UK Bhangra throughout her career. She recently became the first solo female Bhangra artist to gain a weekly timetable slot teaching her brand new concept 'Bhangra in the Dark' at the world famous Danceworks Studio in the heart of London,

making history once more.

Jas started her career in Bhangra as a competitive Bhangra dancer, training at the highest level possible in the UK and winning both National (UK) and International Bhangra competitions (USA). Jas has also had the privilege of being a guest instructor for some of the biggest Bhangra companies in the world, including Bhangra Empire and Pure Bhangra. In 2022 she choreographed and taught a team of dancers, who she performed alongside at the late Queens Official Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, seeing the troupe perform directly outside Buckingham palace.

In 2024 Jas Aulakh Bhangra performed and showcased a live Bhangra performance, accompanied by Dhol drummers at the kick-off of Leyton Orient versus Birmingham City Football Match for South Asian heritage month, which was featured on ITV.

 

Jas' television experience includes featuring in a CBeebies episode of "What's in your Bag?", as well as choreographing and featuring in music videos, recently working with world-famous Punjabi singer Jazzy B for his hit single "Guddi Charhi Hoyi A"

Jas is a 2 time Glastonbury Festival Performer, co-ordinating Bhangra performances for the world famous Glastonbury Festival in both 2023 and 2024, supporting well known punjabi artist Bee2 and DJ Bobby Friction on stage as part of "The Bhangra All-Stars".

In 2024 Jas performed across the UK at Boomtown, Shambala, Victorious & Bristol Harbour Festival.

Further performance credits include supporting Jaz Dhami, Jassi Sidhu, Juggy D, Raxstar, Roach Killa and Sona Walia on stage alongside Jas' high-energy and talented Bhangra troupe.

In 2023 we also saw Jas lead a 2-day Bhangra masterclass for the Associate programme of Rifco Theatre, one of the UK's most successful touring theatre companies. She worked closely with famous actor Ameet Chana to curate and deliver a Bhangra syllabus for the associate programme.

 

Her portfolio of work also includes hosting Corporate Bhangra Workshops and performances for Meta, Accenture, Crowe LLP &

Big 4 Accountancy firms.

Jas is also a winner of 'The Women of the Future Awards' 2022 in the 'Arts & Culture' Category and a finalist for the 'Best Dance Artist' Category at the 'National UK Bhangra Awards' 2023.

She is noted for her passion and enthusiasm for Bhangra and she loves to spread the same joy that Bhangra gives her to everyone she works with.
